Harmon has a long-standing supporting partnership with The Urban Scholastic Center (USC) in Kansas City. We’d like to highlight this amazing and award-winning ministry and share a little bit of what they’ve done to aid and improve the Kansas City area.
The USC became a non-profit entity in 2005 after its leader, Chuck Allen envisioned the center and what it could do for Wyandotte County. Wyandotte County’s urban setting was where Chuck was born and raised; it’s one of the unhealthiest and poorest counties in Kansas.
USC’s mission to “Develop socially responsible Christian leaders,” ties in closely with their vision to “Have responsible Christian leaders permeate our urban community and the world, pursue higher education, effectively lead their families, serve in the community and improve the way of life for all people.”
Just a few of the ministries the USC provides to urban Wyandotte County kids includes one-on-one mentoring, local school serving, life enrichment, soul food, beautiful feet ministry, literacy ministry and chess club. They are truly making a much needed difference in lives, and are helping people thrive.
“[Harmon], thank you so much. Our Associate Director did a great job … She has been a huge asset to our team and leads with graceful authority. You are part of the reason that we are able to bring on highly skilled indigenous leaders like her. Thank you for your partnership. Our community is better because of you.” – USC Staff
We are proud to partner with such a great ministry and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
